3 Myths Busted On Starting An Online Business

If You Would Of Told Me 20 Years Ago…

If you would have told me 20 years ago when I left my corporate job to become an entrepreneur that I’d go on to start 4 businesses that created millions in revenue, that I would serve over 35 million people (and counting) with my message, and that I would go on to fulfill my life-long dream of becoming a traditionally published author, I would have laughed in your face.

But here’s the really cool thing about starting an online business. It’ll give you the freedom to do things like live in a tropical oasis that people only dream or vacation at, it’ll give you the freedom to create an income for yourself that works around your life and not the other way around and it will allow you to work less and get paid more for all the things you love to do.

The biggest push back that I get from people who are toying with the idea of starting an online business is: 

  • They don’t know what to turn into a business

  • They don’t have the extra time or money to start a business. 

  • They don’t know how to start a business 

What if I told you that you already have the skills to start a thriving business for practically nothing in as little as 60 days.  Would that grab your attention?

Let’s take a closer look at how you can accomplish this.

Myth #1: You have to have a unique idea to turn into a business.

You don’t have to reinvent the wheel, chances are you’re already good at something. This positions you to help someone who desires what you have or wants to be where you are in their journey.

You don’t have to be original either. If others are selling it, you can sell it too. Model what’s working. You just have to remember to throw your own spin on it. Speak in your voice and authentically be yourself.

The quickest way to start a business is to turn your skills, services or talents, that you already have, into a business.

Remember, you just have to be a few steps ahead of someone to offer value and have meaningful impact in someone’s life.

If someone can get to their destination faster with your knowledge you offer or if you have something to offer that they desire, they will gladly pay you for it.

Myth #2: It takes a ton of time and money to start an online business

Having the knowledge to help someone doesn’t cost you anything, that’s what makes a knowledge-based online business so profitable.

On the flip side, using your knowledge to create a tangible product is super cost effective because you’re good at it which means you know how to create the product that you’ll be selling it online.

One of the quickest ways to save money is by using software available and most of the time you can get what you need for free. 

Things like your website, landing pages, funnel builder, email marketing, accounting, online course builder, affiliate marketing, video hosting and so much more…. you can get for free.

As for the amount of time you put into a business, you get to choose how much time you want to put into it. 

You can start as a side hustle and dangle your feet a little, you can build your business and work your way out of your 9-5 or you can go all in and go for it. It’s your choice. That’s the beautiful thing, your business, your rules.

Myth #3: You need a fancy degree to know how to start a business

You don’t need any degree to start your business. The best way to start ANY business is to find a mentor who’s already accomplished what you’re trying to do.

This will save you a lot of money in costly mistakes, not to mention the time it would take you to correct those mistakes. Just follow a proven method that’s working and duplicate It.

Finally…Tell your story in every aspect of your business.  People buy into you first then your product. Your story helps to differentiate you from others and gets your following excited to work with you.
